| Abstract: To solve the production problems such as difficult seedling, heavy disease, low growth momentum, low yield, easy dehydration and poor quality of summer and autumn watermelon in northern Jiangsu, through years of experiments and demonstration planting, the facility cultivation technologies was summarized, including selecting heat-resistant and moisture-resistant cultivars, strict disinfection and disease prevention of seeds and substrates, selecting the best time for sowing and planting, changing single film cover to plastic film plus shading net cover, changing flat bed cultivation to deep furrow and high bed cultivation and so on. With proper water and fertilizer management, the yield could reach 1 500 kg per 667 m2 , and the economic benefit could be more than 5 000 yuan per 667 m2 . |
