Abstract: In order to break the dormancy of pepper seeds and improve their germination rate, new seeds of pepper cultivar 'Liushizao' were used as test materials, and the germination rates of seeds soaked for 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70 min were studied under the conditions of water temperature of 55 ℃ and 65 ℃, respectively. The results showed that the germination potential of pepper seeds was higher when those soaked in a short time (≤35 min) at water temperature of 55 ℃, the germination rate relatively changed slightly during the whole observation period. With the prolongation of seed soaking time (>35 min),the germination potential and germination rate of pepper seeds showed a rapid downward trend. When the
water temperature was 65 ℃, the germination rate of the seeds decreased rapidly even after a short soaking
time. It was concluded that the relationship between soaking time and germination rate at 55 ℃ was y =
