Abstract: In order to understand the stress tolerance ability of sheep-horn pepper in coastal areas of Jiangsu to saline-alkali environment, two cultivars of sheep-horn pepper ('Yandongyang No.5' and 'Yandongyang No.13') were used as test materials, and different concentrations of Na2CO3 (0, 5, 10, 20, 30, 40 mmol/L) were subjected to saline-alkali stress on the seeds of sheep-horn pepper to determine the germination traits of the seeds, and the saline-alkali tolerance of different cultivars of sheep-horn pepper was comprehensively evaluated by the membership function method. The results showed that under the stress of different concentrations of Na2CO3, both the germination indexes and the growth indexes showed a trend
of increasing first and then decreasing(except germination index of 'Yandongyang No.13'). When the
c(Na2CO3)=5 mmol/L, the germination indexes such as germination potential and vigor index showed increase
compared with the control, and the growth indexes such as radicle, germ and fresh weight were also improved
compared with the control. When the c(Na2CO3)≥ 20 mmol/L, the germination indexes of the two cultivars
showed a significant downward trend compared with the control, while the relative salt damage rate increased
greatly, and the growth indexes also began to decrease, which was significantly negative correlation with the
Na2CO3 concentration. The root length inhibition rate, shoot length inhibition rate and fresh weight inhibition
rate all significantly increased. The membership function method was used to comprehensively analyze the
indicators, and it was found that the saline-alkali tolerance of 'Yandongyang No.5' was better under low salinity
conditions, and the performance of 'Yandongyang No.13' was better under high salinity conditions of the appropriate
range. |
