Abstract: In order to promote the cultivation of Abelmoschus esculentus in Hebei province, five experimental sites in Anguo, Baoding, Handan, Hengshui and Shijiazhuang were selected to carry out the sowing date test. The effects of different sowing dates on the growth potential, disease resistance and yield of three varieties like 'Shiqiukui No.1', 'Hongyu' and 'Wufu' were studied. The results showed that sowing date had great influence on growth potential, disease resistance and yield of 'Shiqiukui No.1', 'Hongyu' and 'Wufu'. With the delay of sowing date, stem diameter of the three varieties increased gradually, plant height decreased first and then increased (except 'Hongyu' in 2018), fruit number per plant increased first and then decreased, and single fruit weight increased gradually (except 'Wufu'). The yield per plant and yield per 667 m2 of Abelmoschus esculentus were higher when sowing date were April 20th, 25th and 30th. It was concluded that 20th, 25th and 30th April were the most suitable sowing dates for Abelmoschus esculentus cultivation in Hebei province. |
